My name is John and I live near the bayou and like to craft! 🦞
I’m down in Abbeville/Perry, which is just south of Lafayette, Louisiana. We live in a little house with a tiny wood working shop and a pretty awesome laser cutter/engraver that allows me to make neat little crafts and projects that I want to share with others!
I grew up in central Louisiana where my grandfather was a true woodworker; he built all sorts of amazing things from trinkets and decorations to furniture and swings. He was a truly creative man and woodworking was a way for him to express that creativity inside him. Spending summers and time with him really got me passionate about creating and making and that’s a spark that has never diminished throughout my life.
Now, a couple of decades later, I have some pretty amazing tools that didn’t exist when my grandfather was alive and the barrier to creating is so much lower today than it was when I was kid. Those tools have inspired me to start this store where I can create and share the things I make that bring me (and hopefully you, too) some joy.
“Those tools” mainly referring to my beautiful new laser cutter/engraved. After ten years of researching laser engravers and cutters with passionate desire, I *finally* pulled the trigger and bought a beautiful xTool P2 (55w C02) laser cutter/engraver! This tool has changed the game on how quickly I can create and iterate and has taken my crafts to a level of precision that mere human hands could not meet.
Most of my crafts are original designs and combine graphic design, laser cutting/engraving, traditional woodworking, and pretty much any other crafting process that doesn’t involve crazy expensive hardware beyond what I have.
Oh, here’s a picture of Alfie, our potbelly pig. He doesn’t help with the crafting process, but he’s pretty stinkin’ cute, in my humble opinion.
